A Catholic Response to Jihad
If you want to know the strategy of the Islamic movement in America, all you have to do is read their Explanatory Memorandum released back in 1991. (Google PDF, scroll down for English) I want to summarize for you some of what their grand plan is for the country that we live in, and for the Catholic faith that we as Catholics embrace with all of our heart, mind and soul. The notion that Islam is a religion of “peace” is all dependent on what your definition of “peace” is. If it is to mean that they believe that all men of all religions can live in a society as equals and as men of freewill, then the definition fails on many levels. If it means that peace is obtained after Islam is the religion of the State, and all other religions and laws other than that of Islam are trampled underfoot, then we could call Islam a religion of “peace.” That is, it wants peace under its own terms, under its own rule. In Islam, peace is simply, the rule of Islam.
In 1991 there was a memorandum and organization plan that was released to explain the American and global plan of Islam to the Muslim Brotherhood and other Muslim organizations or societies in America. The opening of the letter reads, “The general strategic goal of the Group in America which was approved by the Shura Council and the Organizational Conference for the year is "Enablement of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective and a stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims' causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims' efforts, presents Islam as a civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic State wherever it is". As you read through the document there is one plain objective, it is the rule of Islam over any country or society in which its people reside. The document refers to this process as, “The process of settlement is a "Civilization-JihadistProcess" with all the word means.”
Now there are many who make the claim that Jihad is not necessarily associated with physical violence, and this is quite true, but as you will see, physical violence is never completely out of the picture. Many people like to refer to the word as meaning “struggle” and so they ignorantly dismiss the term as having any identity with physical violence. It is now politically correct to label anyone who refers to the word in association with violence as being a bigot, but this is nothing but media propaganda. Physical violence is only one Jihadist method of conquering their enemy. It also includes infiltration, lies and sabotage to deceive the enemy into making itself weak from the inside. The following text of the letter brings forth a portion of how Jihad as is to be understood by the average Muslim. Remember, this document is not associated with some terrorist organization, but with the Muslim Brotherhood, and many Islamic societies in America. The explanation reads as follows, “The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahedeen be equal.” Here you have the understood objective of Islam in America. But this is not the full explanation of Jihad, ad you have to do some digging to reference the people in the document to understand where they are coming from.
The establishment of mosques in society are frequently compared to Muhammad’s establishment of society in Medina. It is referred to in this manner in the letter. “In brief we say: we would like for the Islamic center to become "The House of Dawa"' and "the general center" in deeds first before name. As much as we own and direct these centers at the continent level, we can say we are marching successfully towards the settlement of Dawa' in this country. Meaning that the "center's" role should be the same as the "mosque's" role during the time of God's prophet, God's prayers and peace be upon him, when he marched to "settle" the Dawa' in its first generation in Madina. from the mosque, he drew the Islamic life and provided to the world the most magnificent and fabulous civilization humanity knew.” This great civilization however as the author refers to it as, was nothing more than a violent assault upon the existing establishment in Medina. In other words, it was by force and manipulation that this “most magnificent and fabulous civilization” came to be. They want the same outcome for this country as well.
If you continue to read, the document comes to what is referred to as it core message. It uses the Imam Hassan al Banna as the role model to follow for this new Jihad. (See page 11 of 18 in the PDF) If you investigate the writings of this man, it is clear as day that physical violence is also not to be shunned or completely substituted by other means. For example, Bana frequently corrected those who called for a higher spiritual means over that of physical violence and sacrifice. It is plain when we read, “The belief is widespread among many Muslims that fighting the enemy is the lesser jihad, and that there is a greater jihad, the jihad of the spirit. Many of them invoke as proof of this the following narration [athar]: "'We have returned from the lesser jihad to embark on the greater jihad.’ They said: ‘What is the greater jihad?’ He said: 'The jihad of the heart, or the jihad of the spirit.'" Some of them try, by recourse to this, to divert people from the importance of fighting, preparing for combat, and resolving to undertake it and embark on God's way. This narration is not really a sound Tradition: the Prince of Believers in matters of Tradition, Al-Hafiz b. Hajar, said in the Tasdid al-Qaws; "It is well-known and often repeated, and was a saying of Ibrahim b. Abla." (Hassan al-Banna's "On Jihad" Part 11) It is quite clear here that the Brotherhood here endorses Banna and his violent thoughts on Jihad. If we read other parts of Banna’s work he frequently refers to past Islamic conquests to illustrate what is meant by this “Tradition”. “'People of my umma embarked on a military campaign in God's way, riding on the surface of this sea as kings on their thrones,' or 'like the kings on their thrones.'" [This is] generally agreed upon, and at the end of the Tradition, Umm Haram asked the Prophet (May God bless and save him!) to beseech God on her behalf that she might be one of them. So he prayed for her, and she lived long enough to ride upon the sea in the Muslim fleet which conquered the island of Cyprus. She died and was buried there, and there are a mosque and a martyrium attributed to her (May God have mercy upon her and be pleased with her!). “ ( Hassan al--Banna's "On Jihad" Part 9) If you know anything about the conquest of Cypress and the Greek islands near it you would understand what Banna’s Islam is. As we know Cypress and the Greek islands were subjected to unprovoked attacks by the Muslims, several island settlements were uninhabitable after they were through with their slaughter and pillage. I could go on ad-nauseum with accounts of Islamic conquest by the sword spanning from its inception up to the present day, but it is only necessary here to make the solid connection to the these past violent and unprovoked conquests of Islam to the present day Islamic religion. Banna is clearly the role model to be followed.
The letter progresses and calls for the unification of all Islamic organizations, which makes complete sense in order to gain political and social clout in America. The letter reads, “All we need is to tweak them, coordinate their work, collect their elements and merge their efforts with others and then connect them with the comprehensive plan we seek.” What we see here is a clear effort to overthrow American society as we know it. The difference between other immigrants in this country, and a majority of Muslim immigrants in this country, is that the goal of the average Muslim is not to become part of American society as an end. The end is to use any and all means necessary to gain control of the society as whole and to make it Islamic. Certainly there are exceptions to the rule, but the rule is the rule, and the rule we must take seriously. I encourage you to sit down and read this entire memorandum for yourself. It is quite clear what the average Muslim is called to do.
Now for my response as a Catholic. It is my duty to pray and worship almighty God as he has called me to do through mankind’s one and only Savior, Jesus Christ. It is to love all mankind, including the Muslim who wants none other than to take away or prohibit me from this God-given freedom and obligation to worship the one true God. First I as a Catholic must be faithful to the life of holiness I have been called to. Without this there is nothing of any worth. I can read about God all day long, but if I do not know Him, what good is it? Secondly I must live a life of prayer, for God does not answer those who do not pray to Him. The only way that the West ever survived the invasions of Islam in the past was great devotion to the one true God. Do you think we would have been victorious with the odds we had at Lepanto without a miracle from God? Third, Jesus commended even the unjust stewart for being wise, “for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.” So I must also be wise, and Catholics as a whole must also be wise in how we live our lives and how we evangelize others and spread our faith. We must be industrious in countering this infiltration by using every moral means possible. Fourth, we must not be ashamed of our faith. This has been a huge problem for many in this day and age. Even bishops in our Church are ashamed to stand up for the Catholic faith and they cater to every group other than their own flock. This has to stop. Finally all Catholics must embrace the Catholic faith its fullness, that is we must give our will over to everything God teaches us through His one and only Church.
If we want to survive and allow future generations to have access to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Sacraments in this country, then we must be living our faith daily. How can we as Catholics continue on if we abort or contracept ourselves out of existence? How has Europe opened itself up to Islamic rule? It is by Catholics not living their faith. So, if there is any one thing that we can do as Catholics to beat back the evil plans of those who seek to destroy us, it is holiness. All of the scandal, all of the dissent, all of the unrest in our Church is due to a lack of holiness in the Church as a whole. Yes, many of us love theology. I am a sucker for spending hours on end reading about my Catholic faith. But what matters the most is how I live it, and I can surely, with God’s grace improve upon that immensely. It is only by means of holiness that we are going to survive whatever challenges await us in the world, whether it be Islamic incursion, secularism, rationalism, or the many other “isms” that seek to destroy us.
