This video is a perfect example of why a bow tie and college degree does not make you a true theologian. If you are not connected to the same Spirit that gave us the Scriptures, you just aren't going to get it. Take a look at the terrible rationalization that Dr. Tony Curto uses to verify that the Scriptures are God's Word. Notice, its not because God reveals His Word to us by the authority he chose to share with the apostles, as Scripture itself attests, instead he says that it is all self authenticating. Well, I would just love to stick this Doctor in a room with all of the ancient manuscripts that we have including the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Apocryphal books with no punctuation, no labeling of the manuscripts, mix them all together with texts that were rejected and see if the brilliant doctor can put together the Canon of Scripture. We will see how self authenticating the text is. The fact is, we know the Scriptures are what they are, because the Church that preached the same Word before the written Word was Canonized, recognizes them for what they are by virtue of the infallible characteristic of the one Church that Christ Himself gave us. In other words, the Church infused by the Holy Spirit knows the Word of God when it sees it because she has eyes to see and ears to hear it. Unfortunately a college degree and a bow tie doesn't give you eyes to see or ears to hear. If we read church history, it is very clear that the Scriptures were not self authenticating.
